Why are Korean female leads so angry all the time?

Chae Jung An:

Not even mentioned she once pretended like she lost her memory and can’t stand or walk after the car accident so she can secretly cheat on Tae Sang again but finally, Tae Sang discovered her shammy and yelled at her not for long after that.

This depend on what drama and which female lead character in those Korean dramas. Actually, not all female leads are angry girls or agressive women. However, there are many female lead characters with short-tempered, angry and even bossy with big ego and riduculous self respect. They be like Sakura from Naruto or Nami from One Piece, the girl or woman who keep acting bossy like another mother and beating the boys or men around who just saved her and really care about her.

And at same time, An Tae Jun, father of An Jung Hyo and also the president of BCK TV Station had a heart disease. Ye Rin finally donated her heart to save President An Tae Jun (played by veteran actor Dok Go Young Jae).

“Inspiring Generation” (Korean name: 감격시대) take place in 1920s and early 1930s in Shanghai, during Republic Of China Period. Its story was about the conflicts and wars between many political parties and gangster groups to seize the power and influence in Shanghai, China at the time. Shin Jung Tae (played by SS501’s Kim Hyunjoong), the male lead in this show and other Korean refugees went to Shanghai, China and live in there. In episode 12 and 13, Shin Jung Tae was suddenly attacked and heavily injuried by a Japanese assassin with a Japanese Katana sword. He was saved later to sent to Medic Sun Woo Jin to get a treatment, but Sun Woo Jin (played by Lee Hae In) even yelled at him and slapped his body and said: “You feels hurt that much so why do you even fight with other people? Do you like to fight that much? You know you would be hurt then why do you even fight at beginning?”.

But 2 years later, on January 1 2018, i got to know Lee Hae In as i was searching for An Jin Kyoung (Baby Vox Re.V’s leader member)’s photos on Naver. I saw her sexy photos she took for Star Hwabo Pictorial make me falls in love with her. And i still didn’t realize she’s this boring and obnoxious female medic in Korean drama “Inspiring Generation” that i’ve watched back in October 2016. Until February 18 or 19 2018, i saw the list of Korean dramas she starred in and it wrote that she played a role in “Inspiring Generation”. I wonder who and what character she played in this show since i’m someone who has a keen memory and observation skills, paying close attention to every supporting character, background actor, and their roles in each dramas, even the smallest details won’t be missed by me. However, this time, I didn't recognize her at all. And i tried to search on Google and Naver with the tag “Lee Hae In - Inspiring Generation” and i can’t believe and be like…”What!? My favorite sexy hot Lee Hae In is….that boring and bossy obnoxious female doctor? How…How can this boring female medic doctor be this hot and sexy? So i accidentally fell in love with this boring medic without recognize she’s that hot? How can’t i recognize her?”

She’s angry and unpleasant all the time, she had many rude behaviors to Prince Lee Hoo (Se7en) in the show. But because she’s the female lead so Lee Hoo still love her, no matter what, ignore Shin Sae Ryung (played by actress Park Shin Hye) is a wealthy and beautiful girl who love him.

(Caption: 🎵🎶Here I Am, Here I Am….🎵🎶)

This episode aired on KBS 1TV on July 29 2013.

Hi everybody! I have been looking at posts on narcs and narc abuse on here and if has really helped me out a lot. I am currently struggling with my situation and need some advice/support. I met a narc last year, everything seemed to good to be true. Love bombing, always texting calling and taking me on dates. Everything changed when someone warned me about him out in public in front of him and who he is. This caused a conflict with us and the love bombing seized. he would tell me that everything is okay and i can come and talk. He would set a time limit on me and kick me out after that. he would then text me like everything was fine and we hung out again and after that he completely ghosted me for one week. He came back and texted me a week later laughing about the ghosting and acting like nothing had happened. he continued to text me ( not like in the beginning) make plans with me, then on the day of the plans he would just ghost me. One day he would act interested the next silence. i contacted him a month later and he acted like nothing happened. He was on a vacation and sent me a picture of another woman ( someone he allegedly met on the trip) to strike a reaction but i never gave him one. After the trip he came to my place and was extremely rude, accusing me of going on dates with a bunch of men. The next day he accused me of being an alcoholic and that he wanted nothing to do with me but said well maybe we can be "friends" then ghosted me i assumed at this point it was over and i would never hear from him again. He contacted me on the holiday a month later acting like everything was great. We ended up hanging out a month or so later and when we hung out it went well, i thought things were going in the right direction. after we hung out.. silence. I would try to text him and if he replied it would be very short then he just stopped replying. He ghosted me for almost three months. I thought he was done this time and of course he popped up again like nothing happened. At this point i was getting sick of if so i questioned him as to why he dissapeared and always does this. Of course he had some sob story about a injury and family member dying of cancer. I felt pity for him and he gave me an apology.. so i took him back stupidly. things seemed to be going smooth for a couple months, of course until his family member died and his injury got better he never contacted me and was distant. Menawhile, i was there for him during the difficult time for him. He lied to me about the funeral and never wanted to chat. I was chasing him and he would always claim nothing was wrong but when i said i thought he used me when he was down he could not handle it and would always tell me he didnt care and to go away. I would get so upset i would try texting him to work it out he would barelt respond and if he did he would not be nice about it. we did hang out a couple times after that, he would ignore me after. One day i was like hey i think you are seeing someone else, and i was like well ixam seeing someone so no problem if you are he said " buy bye good luck with your new guy stop contacting me" i was devastated and tried to get into contact with him for weeks then i just gave up and accepted it was over. He ended up contacting me a month later acting like everything was fine. He wanted to go out and have drinks i told him i would. He and i both seemed to have a great time. He ends up ignoring me again. I kept texting him trying to figure out what was wrong. He kept saying everything was fine and i said ok can we hang out again? He said maybe i was like why? He just kept saying maybe … our last conversation we had… i said what is wrong ? He said nothing is wrong everything is fine. I asked him why he keeps saying maybe. He said " maybe but i dont want to see you right now" i said why? He saix " im just not feeling it, if i wanted to date i would" i said why did you contact me less then a week ago wanting to go out? He said i didnt.. even though he did. So i said should i just move on or what? He said whatever you want to do. So i said that he was really confusing me and asked him if he had anything more to say before i move on? My messages were turning green so i panicked he blocked me and reacted irrationally. I said " omg did you block me? My messages are not going through. Even texted him on my work phone asking what was up. And called him twice ( please dont judge me i know it is pathetic i never was this type of girl before him) so he replied and said " Ok I'll block you now" then immedietly blocked me. He has never blocked me before since I have met him he will just ghost. Is this ths final discard aka " grand finale? Did i just push him too far? this has upset me so much its hard to even function.

Seo Mi Do in this drama is one of the most obnoxious female characters i hate the most in Korean dramas. She’s angry all the time, angry with no reason, angry with everyone, especially with Han Tae Sang (played by famous actor Song Seung Heon), the male lead in the show. Seo Mi Do keep acting like she’s the most ethic and always hurt other’s feeling by saying arrogant, stubborn words to protect her ego and selfishness.

Some of the circumtances and characters are realistic and based on reality, but there are also many things are made up and too fictional. Most Korean girls and women are used to be humble and gentle, polite but when something went wrong, few of them express their emotion, sometimes it’s worry, sometimes it’s anger, sometimes is deep sorrow…etc depend on what situation they’re facing and experiencing. But mostly, i see them show their emotion in private talk, when they’re talking to someone alone or someone they’re closer to at least. Koreans people are not the type to show their emotions or shout out loud in public to attract attention, gossip, and ridicule unless there is a reason for it that is important and affects the community or in special circumstances. Additionally, Koreans tend to address their personal emotions privately instead of displaying them publicly and drawing attention, impacting the community. Many new school Korean dramas since 2013, 2014 to present are made up with these kinds of angry female leads, showing their emotions in public freely.

1. Lee Hae In as Medic Doctor Sun Woo Jin in Korean drama “Inspiring Generation” (2013 - 2014):

Why Circle's ‘Super Positive’ IPO Could be Bullish for Ethereum: Analysts - Decrypt

Han Ga In as Yoo Hee and Jae Hee as chef Chae Mu Ryong in “Witch Yoo Hee”

Until she met Chae Mu Ryong (played by actor Jae Hee), a talented chef by an accident. She gradually hired him as her chef who cooks for her at her house. And she started changed her looking and personality since then.

Lee Hae In as Lee Ye Rin in Episode 6:

Fell for Jae Hee’s small seductive actions and words, Seo Mi Do think he’s the one who can make her feels comfortable and understand her better than Tae Sang (Song Seung Heon), she almost slept with Lee Jae Hee in episode 13 and 14. But Han Tae Sang and his older brother, Lee Chang Hee found out his T-Shirt was left in fitting room in Tae Sang’s house.

As you can see, her character is damn angry, aggressive. Actually, there are few Korean women like this in real life. I can’t help but she is…similar like me lol. When i gets angry, i have the similar reaction when my anger at its peak lol.

Chae Jung An as Baek Seong Joo, the beautiful perfect woman who always care and help Han Tae Sang in Korean drama “When A Man Falls In Love” Episode 12:

Lee Hae In as Lee Ye Rin in Korean drama “Sincerity Moves Heaven” Episode 127, when she confess all of her crimes in public!

Seo Mi Do (played by Shin Se Kyung) make most of audiences hate her so much for her betrayal and ungrateful attitude to Han Tae Sang. This is why in the end, she can’t marry Tae Sang after all.

Kpop solo singer Se7en as Prince Lee Hoo in Korean drama “Goong 2: Prince Hours” (2007):

(Caption: I’m Dongjun, member of boygroup ZE:A!)

Lee Hae In as Lee Ye Rin in Episode 110:

This episode aired on KBS 1TV on August 7 2013.

If i was Han Tae Sang, i would marry Seong Joo as soon as i meet her. Having such loyal and beautiful, talented woman back me up, i can do whatever i want to achieve my dreams without worrying too much. With such perfect woman like this, what are you asking for more?

This drama’s story take place in an alternative universe of Korean drama “Goong 1: Princess Hours” (2006) that success as a big hit drama in 2000s. “Goong 2: Prince Hours” is also Se7en’s only drama in his acting career, he only focus on singing until now and haven’t starred in any other new drama after this one. However, because the female lead is too much obnoxious and rude to male lead played by Se7en, the super star in 2006, 2007 but finally become a couple with him, like a cinderella got her dream, a random girl accidentally pick up the gold so easily. The female lead who is angry all the time with male lead got her luck without efforts and many unfair circumtances in the show make “Goong S: Prince Hours” failed and not successful like “Goong 1: Princess Hours” in 2006. Now, almost everyone don’t remember this drama but the original Goong 1 drama.

This scene made me angry so much that i wanted to get inside the screen to entering the world in this drama and bea* her up for her over the top behaviors. And my first impression about this role played by Lee Hae In was a freaking boring, bossy and obnoxious female medic doctor.

(Caption: The lyrics from ZE:A’s song “Here I Am”: 🎵🎶Here I Am, Here I Am…Neo Man Eul Wi Hae, Se Sang Keut Kka Ji…eee🎵🎶)

Lee Ye Rin is a talented, beautiful, hot announcer but arrogant, bossy and cute at same time. She always afraid of people would discover she’s adopted daughter of Kim Joo Hee (played by veteran actress Shim Ye Jin) and Choi Se Young (played by actress Park Se Young), her true biogical daughter would recognize her mother again, threatening to her position and lost the love from her foster mom. So Lee Ye Rin tried all her best to ruin, harm Choi Se Young as much as she can. Ye Rin is smart, heartless, aggressive and the type of woman who shows her emotions to people both in private talk and public. But on other side, she’s pitiful, weak and cute.

In an interview with TV Daily in December 2013, she shared her thinking about her character and the ending:"I think she had a little excessive tendency to keep her things. I didn't sympathize with the character Lee Ye Rin. Actually, there are also many people like Ye Rin in real life."

2. Shin Se Kyung as Seo Mi Do in Korean drama “When A Man Falls In Love” (2013):

3. Lee Hae In as Announcer Lee Ye Rin in daily Korean drama “Sincerity Moves Heaven” (2013):

An Jin Kyoung:

And Ye Rin confess all of her crimes to asking An Jung Hyo (played by actor Park Jae Jung), who once loved her since they were orphan kids now, love Choi Se Young not to marrying her, Ye Rin’s rival and archenemy. Ye Rin doesn’t know people hiding behind the curtains and the scene to make a surprise celebration for An Jung Hyo and Choi Se Young’s upcoming marriage and revealed everything….lol. How can someone be that “cruel”, smart, evil but cute and…unwise like that, telling everything to everyone with a long breathe! lol.

Lee Hae In (Gangkiz) as Doctor / Medic Sun Woo Jin in Korean drama "Inspiring Generation" Episode 13.

Chae Jung An as Baek Seong Joo and Song Seung Heon as Han Tae Sang in Episode 15:

Even my late mother laughed and she told me “It seem God and the High Divine Forces covered your eyes this time and they don’t let you know who she is and recognize her until the right time has come, and now is the time!”

This photo has been published on December 4 2013.

However, she hasn’t changed her selfishness. Seo Mi Do is a practical, utilitarian and follows Tae Sang to gain her high position in his company and benefits her career. She keep asking Tae Sang to do this, do that for her but she doesn’t understand or sympathize what Tae Sang have been through and what he did to protect her safety and her dignity. She later switch her love interest from Tae Sang to his inferior, Lee Jae Hee (played by actor Yeon Woo Jin).

(Caption: How can someone be that cruel, aggressive, bossy…so cute?! lol)

(Caption: I’m Yang Guo, the “Korean” Condor Hero. Where is my Go Go? Where is my Little Dragon Girl? lol)

4. Han Ga In as Ma Yoo Hee in Korean drama “Witch Yoo Hee” (2007):

Heo Yi Jae as palace maid Yang Soon Ae in Korean drama “Goong 2: Prince Hours” (2007):

(Caption: There is a universe in multiverse where Kim Dongjun (ZE:A) is…a girl! lol)

Lee Hae In as Lee Ye Rin in Episode 4:

But don’t you think she’s gentle, she’s still very aggressive. There was a scene when she had a small car accident and the man who tried to bully her got hits and kicks by her, knock him out. She keeps kicking that guy and says “Go to hell, go to die, die!”.

If Tae Sang didn’t go home early, this cheating couple may left some…”relics” in his house.

Lee Hae In as Lee Ye Rin in Episode 135, the final episode of this drama:

On February 27 2014, her agency Core Contents Media (now known as MBK Entertainment) announced this photo with Hae In said through the post: "Director, Staffs and Actors are working to filming the drama happily. Please, look foward and expect a lot of excitement from now on to "Inspiring Generation". She played as Doctor / Medic Sun Woo Jin in this drama and this episode also aired on KBS 2TV on this day. "Inspring Generation" was filmed at set studio in Icheon and Yeoju city, Gyeonggi-do.

She is the type of person who expresses emotions in an extreme manner, often crying, getting angry, and displaying frustration in a way that makes others both worried and fearful.

This is what she look like after she changed her hairstyle and looking.

Her co-actor, actor Kim Sung Oh played as heroic gangster boss Jeong Jae Hwa in this drama. This episode aired on KBS 2TV on February 19 2014.

Baek Seong Joo is a strong and smart woman, She gets angry when she needs to, she is gentle when needed, she shows strength and determination when required to be firm, and she shows vulnerability and cries with the right person (Han Tae Sang) at the right time.

(Caption: Fellow ZE:A Member is thicker than other handsome guys, isn’t it? lol)

For someone who don’t know much about Chae Jung An and An Jin Kyoung (Baby Vox Re.V), you can read my articles about them here:

Another good woman who love and support you but you missed!

This episode aired on KBS 2TV on February 26 2014.

(Caption: Hi, guys, i’m Se7en, the Korean version of Chinese actor Huang Xiao Ming lol)

(Caption: I’m the multiverse variant of An Jin Kyoung (Baby Vox Re.V) and Park Hyomin (T-ARA), the leader of “Yu Ju - Kyoung Clan”!)

However like what i said above, it depend on which character. There are also many female leads in Korean dramas who are angry with reason, showing the strong personality of the character, make people can understand and sympathize with the character. And in this post, i will name few different types of female leads in Korean dramas who are used to show their anger:

Heo Yi Jae as Yang Soon Ee and Se7en as Prince Lee Hoo:

Meanwhile, Baek Seong Joo (played by actress and solo singer Chae Jung An), the 2nd female lead is the perfect and great woman who is strong, rich, powerful who always care, support and protect Han Tae Sang all the time. Baek Seong Joo is truly my ideal woman, who’s hot, beautiful sexy, wealthy, smart, strong and loyal to the one she love. Without her, Han Tae Sang may be taken down by his enemy long time ago. Baek Seong Joo even found his missing mother and younger brother.

Han Ga In as Ma Yoo Hee in Korean drama “Witch Yoo Hee”.

Handsome Korean American actor Dennis Oh as Johnny Kruger, the talented chef who pursuing Dongjun…i mean Yoo Hee romantically in Korean drama “Witch Yoo Hee” (2007):

Uhm…This is actually the very first Korean drama Lee Hae In starred in that i’ve watched. I watched this drama in October 2016. At the time, i really…hate her as her character Medic Sun Woo Jin was so much bossy and angry all the time, she be like she’s mother of the world, keep yelling at people and blaming people without knowing the truth and the situations.

(Caption: What a cute reaction when people know your “crimes” lol)

Han Tae Sang (played by actor Song Seung Heon) love Seo Mi Do so much and his background is a gangster boss so she and her family had a bad impression with him at first but because he’s now too wealthy and powerful, also always care and support her and family all the time so she gradually changed her mind and like him back, even her mother and her younger brother like Tae Sang too, except her father still have a hatred and prejudice to Han Tae Sang because he was once the gangster boss who asked him for rents and debts 7 years ago.

She continued: "I am very satisfied with the ending. I felt like I was finally away from all the burdens. Ye Rin’s crime was so big. Even if she did something good, volunteer works, it seems that viewers would not be relieved from their anger. So, I also had a lot of worries about the ending, but after she died, I felt so relieved. At first, it was said that if an actor / actress dies in his / her role, the actor will only play a role of dying, so I’m a little worried that this might be the case."

Another role by Lee Hae In, former member of Kpop girlgroup Gangkiz. This is her most well known and remarkable role, one of her peak in her acting career. She played as announcer Lee Ye Rin, her foster mom is Kim Joo Hee, the respectful and veteran TV announcer and host of BCK channel.

This mistake make her lost all of her fame and respect from people and her co-workers in the field. Everyone turned their back on her, she had to temporality dropped the job and moved to outside, live alone in some boarding house, working ordinary and lowly jobs to pay for her sins.

Seo Mi Do (played by Shin Se Kyung) secretly cheated on Han Tae Sang since Lee Jae Hee (played by Yeon Woo Jin) keep seduce her and comfort her by his honey sweet words. Jae Hee secretly love Mi Do for a long time ago and now, he tried his best to steal her from Tae Sang, his boss and benefactor who helped him to study abroad and reached to this present status.
